International Maritime Academy (IMA) is one of the marine technical education and training provider and is distinguishing for its proficiency. The institute provides training for cadets of both Nautical and Engineering discipline and introduced Ratings training from May 2014. Ratings are vital part of the ship's manning requirement who serves on board under the supervision of senior officers assist in ship maintenance, safe ship operation, security and pollution prevention. So far, as of December 2021, 258 ratings in six batches have passed out from the academy. Ratings of Deck, Engine, Fitter and Catering discipline are trained in IMA. Almost all of them are now employed on board foreign flag vessels completing their ship-board training and sea service required to pursue their career.
